A spotlight on carly sullivan’s newborn portfolio

Newborn photos are indescribably special. They usually occur during a very sweet little window in time, a rare bit of our lives that is often wrapped up in a blur of sleeplessness and unconditional love. It is a time for family, learning, and healing. To be invited into another family’s home as they experience this is not taken lightly by our studio’s photographers; it is understood that it is an absolute honor to get to be there. Our newborn sessions are not rushed, they are not artificially staged, and they are not forced. They offer a documentary style approach and use the natural light of your home to capture the true feeling of your household at this important milestone. The following photographs were all captured by Carly Sullivan, mom of two and Associate Photographer at Ann Coen Studio.

Why She Loves It

Carly, Studio Manager and Associate Photographer, has been shooting many of the newborn sessions for our studio. We asked her what she loves most about this type of photography. “I love newborn photography because it allows me to slow down and focus on the small, meaningful details of the tiniest (and most adorable) subjects. It’s so special to capture such an intimate time, documenting the fleeting moments families will look back on and cherish.” Her response made us proud. It underlined the driving reason behind our studio’s style: we shoot the way we’d want our own family to be photographed. We take our time, we count each detail as important, and we capture the whole story, not just the perfectly posed moments. We do our best to capture your session in a way that brings you right back to the moment for years to come, no matter how long it has been.

Booking A Newborn Session

These sessions take just a little bit of extra planning, but they also offer more flexibility with timing. While most of our outdoor family sessions get the best light in the early morning and the evening golden hour, indoor sessions are slightly different. Home sessions can be scheduled during the day, as there are no harsh shadows or inclement weather to dodge indoors. We like to recommend the first ten days of life, however if this is not possible, any time in the first six weeks will still capture the true newborn nature of your little one. When inquiring, please let us know your estimated due date, location, and family size. Then, reach out to us with an update once the baby is born and we can finalize the date and time!
