July 17th: Slack Tide Book Release & 20th Anniversary Celebration

Ann’s new hardcover photography book titled Slack Tide is set to debut this summer, offering an intimate journey through the natural beauty of Long Beach Island. All images in this new collection were captured and curated by Ann Coen, who has spent over two decades documenting the island’s marshes, bays, beaches, and wildlife - in addition to the wedding and portrait photography she is known for in the local community. Slack Tide is a visual love letter to the island’s unique textures, scenes, and wildlife. Above all, this book is a quiet and personal meditation on finding joy in simplicity.
“The images in this book aren’t about waiting out the perfect shot for hours on end,” Coen explains. “They’re the moments I managed to capture when I could steal just a little time. One day I’ll have more time to chase those big dreams. For now, I’m finding joy in the simple things: a full moon at just the right time, the way the sun plays on the water, and the quiet life of birds, clams, and marsh creatures right in my backyard.” While Ann had thousands of images to sort through and choose from, the ones selected for Slack Tide were chosen with deep intention. “Each photo was special to me in some way - where I was at that moment or day. It’s not just about what I saw, but what I felt.” This book invites readers to pause and enjoy the serenity of Long Beach Island through meaningful and authentic visual storytelling.
Slack Tide will be available starting July 17th at Ann Coen Photography’s 20th Anniversary Party and Book Release, to be held at Mallard Island Estate from 6-9pm.
